Not for the faint of heart, Peter Steele’s second record with pre-Type O Negative crossover outfit Carnivore doubled-down on the band’s outwardly offensive nature. Sonically, the trio increase the heat with a metallically thrash-forward eruption of feral beats and corrosive bass fuzz — yet delivered with a hardcore intensity that found them sharing CBGB bills with Cro-Mags and Agnostic Front. Songs about urban warfare and the fall of society were built to shock, but delivered with tongues satirically in-cheek.
