Traditional, slow, and heavy in the vein of Reverend Bizarre and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSaint Vitus. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe Gates of Slumber was formed by Karl Simon in 1998. Various people were in and out of \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ethe group between 1998 and 2001, when the Blood Encrusted Deth Axe demo was recorded \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewith Jamie Walters aka Dr. Phibes\/Athenar (Boulder, Midnight) on drums and bass. In 2003 \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eJason McCash took over the bass duties and was a long-time member of the band until his \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003euntimely demise in 2014, after which Simon decided it was time to call it quits. That was until \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e2019 when the renowned metal festival Hell Over Hammaburg wanted to bring the band \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eback on stage to perform at the festival’s 2020 edition.
